ImaginAction is a traveling theater arts company that dazzles the heart and awakens the spirit through the performance of ancient folk tales and original works. We offer storytelling, full length plays, theater of the oppressed workshops and inter-cultural work
The “Combatants for Peace” movement was started jointly by Palestinians and Israelis, who have taken an active part in the cycle of violence; Israelis as soldiers in the Israeli army (IDF) and Palestinians as part of the violent struggle for Palestinian freedom. After brandishing weapons for so many years, and having seen one another only through weapon sights, we have decided to put down our guns, and to fight for peace.
Jana Sanskriti, a cultural organization based in Calcutta, supports 32 community theater groups in West Bengal that are using T.O. to write and present plays about alcoholism, dowry deaths and the accountability of panchayats, or village councils.
Pedagogy & Theatre of the Oppressed, Inc. (PTO) supports people whose work challenges oppressive systems by promoting critical thinking and social justice through liberatory theatre and popular education.
Our approaches stem from the theories and practices of Paulo Freire and Augusto Boal. We foster collaborative connections to share, develop, promote, and document liberatory theatre, popular education, and other revolutionary actions. PTO serves as a resource for oppressed peoples and their allies in diverse communities, contexts, and traditions around the world.
Giolli social cooperative has been founded in Parma the 11th november 2008 but is based on Giolli association experience, 21 years long.
Giolli uses Boal's method (Theatre of the Oppressed), together with Paulo Freiire'Conscientization, Community Development Approach, Active No-violence, as tools to help the self-liberation of groups and individuals.
THEATRE FOR LIVING has evolved from Augusto Boal's "Theatre of the Oppressed" and David Diamond's interest in and commitment to a 'systems view' of the world. If we embrace the idea that a community is a living organism, how do we work with that larger consciousness, using a primal language (the theatre) to help it tell its stories? How do we do this without polarizing the living community into 'us' and 'them'? Once the story is acted on the stage, the living community engages in interactive, Forum Theatre - a creative, community-based dialogue.
